Bailout for The Mainstream Media May be Next

One of the silver linings of this economic depression is the collapse of mainstream media companies and the creation of internet blogs along with citizen journalism. While this media shift is ongoing and certain, a question arises – Will the government, in further effort to keep their political-financial-media power in tact, bailout big media?

Does the News Industry Deserve a Bailout? That was the headline in a recent article written in Time Magazine. Written by Douglas A. McIntyre, the article argues “the strategic value of the print media comes from the centuries that it has served as a check and balance to the central government both in the United States and elsewhere.

The article goes on to say “Politicians have every reason to want to see print media fail. That can be said tongue in cheek, but too many governors and congressmen have lost jobs after newspaper investigations to make the relationship between Fourth Estate and politicians a comfortable one. A neutered press would benefit a number of elected officials.

I wonder what a  “neutered press” would look like? Would they peddle optimism even while the economy was collapsing? Would celebrity gossip become newsworthy? If the government wanted to loot the United States treasury and bailout their campaign contributors on Wall St, would a “neutered press” fail to demand answers or, even worse, scare the American people into submission? Would this neutered press allow the government to use 9-11 as a tool to occupy the middle east, while ignoring the cries of first responders and families of 9-11?

I’ve often said that I do not follow the mainstream news for information, I follow it for the lie. Establishment news organizations such as Time magazine should be followed only to figure out what it is they are trying to sell. “They” meaning the Washington “In” crowd of government, lobbyists and mainstream reporters.

When US government public relations  organizations (Mainstream News) publish an article such as Mr. McIntyre’s, you should be paying attention. The campaign is beginning.

The charts below represent some of the largest media conglomerates. There is no doubt that many are in deep trouble and, if left to the markets, many may fail. Will the be allowed to fail?

I agree that the “mainstream media” can be compared to “the lady [who] doth protest too much.” I look to print, televised, film, internet, and all forms of mass communications for their biases. Every part of all media productions can be analyzed for bias (e.g. message, production values, historical/cultural context, production ownership/sponsorship, audience, etc.).

The value of hard copy print media may have reached its nadir, considering the availability of different distribution channels (e.g. broadcast channels such as radio, television, internet, etc.). Now the mainstream print media are mostly owned by a limited number of global corporations with more power than the U.S. government.

At one time, private enterprise (small media companies and citizen journalists) could and did provide a check and balance to powerful government bureaucracy. Now powerful government bureaucracy seems no match for the propaganda churned out by media arms of powerful corporations who are sapping the world’s local, regional, and national economies like bloodthirsty vampires with bankrupt balance sheets.

In the current global village, the constant drumbeat of instant communications renders hard copy print media nearly obsolete. This is simply the result of new communication tools replacing old communication tools. The internet is great. Yet the internet can also go away, especially if the infrastructure of world governments crumbles. Television is great. Yet television can also go away if governments crumble. We might go back to a typographic and telegraphic age again, where the global village becomes obsolete and the hard copy printed message engages the individual writer with individual readers in more regional and localized ways.

actually in France we just had a similar scenario with “les Etats generaux de la presse”, and Sarkozy throwed a 600 million Euro big bone to the obedient mainstream press.
Needless to say neither the alternative/critical press nor the french web medias were invited.
as the NY times seems to be your local Pravda (as “Le monde” in France), I certainly expect strong governmental support one way or another.

Interesting the NYT started tanking right after the people figured the Times was most responsible for providing the propaganda tool for the US government in its fated Iraq adventure. Actually, the “mainstream” media in the US is nothing kore than the front arm of the AIPAC/JDL/Likud hydra. Most Americans are realizing it in droves, and have foresaken the liars to embrace potentially flawed, but vastly more trustworthy news outlets available free of charge on the internet. Interestingly, the said Americxan public is paralyzed in their sense of helplessness in the theft of their country by a very small group of treasonous dual citizens beholden to a foreign country, but, lately, they have been determined that, fine, you can lie to me, but I sure as hell am not going to pay you to do it. It wouldn’t surp[rise me if they bail out the “international’ media. After all, they bailed out the international bankers to the orgasmic joy of the same “mainstream” media now holding out a tin cup. Meanwhile, these same Americans are losing their homes in droves to the loud silence of the same “mainstream” media. I detect a subtle pattern here.

I love this quote from Doug Noland’

“If you’re not confused…you don’t understand the nature of the problem.”

Is the US headed for another great depression, yes…and so is the whole world.

Lots of people gave up on the mainstream media because of 9-11 cover up . The bias was so obvious. They dug their own grave by cavng into the interests of their investors vs the interests of the people. I hope the hit rock bottom and I hope to see malkin and all the other fox sluts prostituting themselves to keep a roof over their heads. The mainstream media is responsible for the deaths of 1 million iraqis countless injured soldiers and our devalued currency .

We all need to start preparing right now. Get storable food, guns and ammo, and have cash at home. Lastly, if you have the money, invest in gold and silver. Those of us who make it through the hell that is coming need to educate and inform as many people as possible that there is indeed a dominant minority who control and manipulate every government on the planet. They’re known as the Illuminati, New World Order, banksters, etc. Banksters is on e of my favorites. Actually, pig demons is my favorite. They (pig demons) believe in “Ordo Ab Chao,” latin for “Order Out of Chaos.” If we think chaos is here now, we’re being fools, because we haven’t seen anything yet! World War III is coming. Pandemics (Avian Flu) are coming. Hell is coming folks. Get prepared.

The mainstream information media has been supplanted by the mainstream comedy news networks like the Onion and Comedy Central stalwarts like The Daily Show & The Colbert Report (and for the less informed SNL). The blur of what is really happening vs what would be really funny if it had actually happened has most people(me) too confused about the current political social economic situation to even feign understanding

With the power of the Federal Reserve behind them, the banksters can print any amount of money they want. They use it to buy up the media, and with that they buy up the politicians. The banksters have always subsidized the mainstream media, but no amount of subsidy will force people to read newspapers again. Especially when all they contain is lies.

If the media bothered to tell us the truth they would not be in trouble. No doubt they will try to bail them out after all they are the ones that give the politicans lies crediabillity. They and the media are out to “globalize” and that will mean the destruction of the USA. Our forefathers envisioned a free pree that would keep the people informed of the truth. I am sure they are rolling over in their graves seening how corrupt it has become.

People will always find ways to communicate with each other, even if it’s smoke signals. If all that is available to communicate with is a hand-written letter and a mimeograph machine, people will find ways to create and distribute their messages, hence mass communications.
Resist easy conclusions. Admit that all communications are biased. Pay attention to all of the media productions you are consuming, note the biases, sift out the facts, apply your critical mind, trust your own experience, and build your own base of knowledge. It is the nature of earthbound creatures to create and belong to communities of shared interest and survival.

I gave on the media way before 911- the campaign of lies i sensed-which was disgustingly obvious as they chanted “WMDs…WMDs…WMDs!”over and over for weeks before the war started-and I knew by the way the lie was told to read in between the lines. It scared me tto death when a nazi like “If youre not for us-youre for the enemy” slogans started making the rounds, as brainwashed military soldiers angrilly tried t breakup anti war protests
People soon took down anti war messages and homes, death threats, damage to vehicles and homes resulted in this fascist frenzy-any next ‘terrorist’ attack should be taken with a grain of salt

Everybody knows that the dice are loaded:
Everybody rolls with their fingers crossed.
Everybody knows that the war is over.
Everybody knows the good guys lost.
Everybody knows the fight was fixed..
The poor stay poor, the rich get rich.

    Thats how it goes.
    Everybody knows.

Everybody knows that the boat is leaking.
Everybody knows that the captain lied.
    Everybody got this broken feeling,
Like their father or their dog just died.

    Everybody talking to their pockets,
Everybody wants a box of chocolates,
    And a long stem rose.
    Everybody knows.

Everybody knows that you love me baby,
Everybody knows that you really do.
Everybody knows that youve been faithful….
Ah give or take a night or two.
    Everybody knows youve been discreet.
But there were so many people you just had to meet,
    Without your clothes.
    And everybody knows.

    Everybody knows, everybody knows…
    Thats how it goes.
    Everybody knows.

And everybody knows that its now or never.
Everybody knows that its me or you.
And everybody knows that you live forever,
Ah when youve done a line or two.
Everybody knows the deal is rotten.
Old black joes still pickin cotton,
    For your ribbons and bows.
    And everybody knows.

And everybody knows that the plague is coming.
Everybody knows that its moving fast.
Everybody knows that the naked man and woman
Are just a shining artifact of the past.
Everybody knows the scene is dead,
But theres gonna be a meter on your bed,
    That will disclose
    What everybody knows.

And everybody knows that youre in trouble.
Everybody knows what youve been through.
From the bloody cross on top of calvary,
    To the beach of malibu.
    Everybody knows its coming apart.
Take one last look at this sacred heart,
    Before it blows.
    And everybody knows.
